The Power of Questions
Could questions be more powerful than answers? Is it possible that there are questions powerful enough to change the course of our lives forever? Are there questions that can shape or reshape our destiny?
I have found that the asking of potent questions is like the 'Thomas Edison Attitude'. Ask not once, but ask until the answer reveals itself - even if it takes a thousand times. By using the Thomas Edison Attitude certain questions have transformed me over the years.
At some point, I discovered that there is a gap between a question and its answer or answers and I had to be willing to enter that gap. I had to allow the tension (that arises between the question and its answer) to pull me forward towards a newly emerging me.
Below are some of the questions that I still live with and I invite you to join me in the process.
- How can I live my life in a way that it means more than a flash of momentary physical existence ?
- How can I more fully express my potential in a way that contributes to the lives of all those around me?
- What are my core values?
- Is my behavior in alignment with my values?
- Where are there gaps?
- What do I need to do to close the gaps?

I invite you to get a little notebook and enter the answers to these questions. Become a journalist, an archeologist on a dig, or a scientist exploring the wonder of your own life. Then track the answers to these questions in your log book with date and time of your entry.
Reflect and revisit these questions daily or whenever you can, and add to your log. (My little log book is on the right. The saying in the center reads, "Think of the world you carry within you." By Rainer Maria Rilke)
Make it easy! Make it fun! Make it fast! Five minutes a day will deliver a positive transformation in your life!
The Hero’s Call
Life is not 'ho hum'. It is not to be lived out on the anvil of meaninglessness one day after another.
Life has a purpose. Our lives have a purpose! Remember to remember who you are.
You are special. You are the main character in a great adventure. You are the hero or heroine and the story teller of your own odyssey. The plot is yours, the script is yours and the tests and trials belong to you alone. It is a journey of epic proportions and it begins with 'the call'.
Have you heard the call? It comes as a whisper within, a longing to do or be something more than you have been up until that point. It is tantalizing and exciting.
Yet at the same time it can be intimidating and a bit overwhelming because we have to let go of the shore. We have to release the safe and comfortable, the old habits that have become our familiar friends, to discover the possible you that awaits beyond the horizon. Or, as Joseph Campbell once said, "We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us."
The call is your call and it is heard by only you. It is the call to do something that no one else can or will do. In the American Indian tradition it is the call to contribute your gifts and talents to the tribe for the good of all.
- Listen to the inner voice, the still small whisper.
- Remember that life happens as you live it
- Create your destiny one day at a time
- Remember that fear is:
- False
- Evidence
- Appearing
- Real
Fill Your Own Tank!
Who fuels your inspiration? Who lights your fire every morning and gets you going? Who knows your purpose and your passion?
It's you and you alone who hold the key to your motivation and inspiration. The success and satisfaction we seek in our lives is in our own hands.
No one else can fuel your fire. No one else can get you inspired and charged up in the morning. Know one else knows your life purpose or the thing that drives your passion. You are the beginning and the end, the alpha and omega of your own drive, inspiration, motivation, get up and go...
That is not to say that you are alone. We are all connected to something greater than ourselves. Call it God, call it Spirit, or Universal Mind. You can even call it the Great Mystery or, as Quantum physicist David Bohm calls it, the Implicate Order.
In any case, regardless of the name you give it, it is the deeper cause, the undivided wholeness, behind the seemingly random nature of all life. It is the source beneath the surface or, as the American Indians called it, the web that connects all living things to one another.
We are born connected. And we remain connected throughout our lives. So let's go back to the original question - Who fuels your inspiration or lights your fire? Of course you do... yet the caveat is that you are not alone!
Ask for help. Ask for guidance and inspiration. Ask for answers and solutions to your problems. Ask to get up in the morning fully charged, inspired and positive ready to embrace the day! As you send out your internal request, believe that the Implicate Order received your desire or intention and is acting on it now.
- At night as you are lying in bed just before falling asleep, visualize yourself getting up in the morning full of energy and ready to embrace your day.
- Talk to your mind and tell it that you will sleep deeply and rise with vigor and energy.
- Then in the morning if your first thought is a 'tired thought' delete it. And replace it with a vigorous thought of "Yea, another day!"
Then get up and use the 'act as if ' principle of Aristotle. Act as if it is already done! Get up and feel charged up with energy. Have a great day. You deserve it!
Developing the Olympiad Mind Set
I am on the road again. I just arrived in Melbourne and I'm filled with the crazed Olympic fever. Every chance I get I search out the nearest TV only to sit riveted to the screen watching our world's finest athletes compete in stellar form.
For as long as I can remember, the games have captured my imagination. I'm not alone in this as the Olympics have long inspired the imagination of millions of other people just like me.
I watched the opening evening in Honolulu before leaving for Australia. And as the music crescendoed and the screen flashed the words, London 2012, I thought of the years leading up to this night. For the participating athletes, everything that got them to this moment wasn't done in the lights with the hoopla and magic that I was watching on the screen.
The years prior to the Summer Olympics were written in the muscles and sinews, the hearts and minds of the men and women that made it to the event. The mental, emotional, physical and spiritual discipline that these Olympiads exhibited over the years opened the door for their entrance to the coming ten days.
These men and women represent the best and finest in personal mastery. They stand as examples of the possibility that our lives hold if are willing to stay on our purpose, develop our talents and strive to realize our true potential in any given arena.
You and I may not be athletes. But we are here on Earth for a reason. We were each given gifts and talents and we have a choice as to how much we develop those talents.
The athletic training is multidimensional: body, mind and soul. But is it any less for ourselves? To be successful, our level of mastery must include the core training for our brain, mental and physical stamina as well as inspired action.
Successful people are willing to do what others of lesser success were unwilling to do. Successful people are willing to go what others of lesser success were unwilling to go. Successful people are willing to give what others of lesser success were unwilling to give. They are willing to get up earlier, work longer and push themselves harder. They are willing to give more of themselves to the game, whatever their 'game' may be.
And maybe that is the fascination so many of us hold with the Olympics. It represents our highest and finest hopes for ourselves. It represents what we know at some subliminal level that we're capable of if we give it all we have. It is this Olympiad Spirit that is available in each of us that I honor today.
Take a Stand for You!
Take a stand for a vision of who you intend to be, even in the face of no physical evidence... until the evidence shows up!
Don't wait for others to show you who are. Don't wait for circumstances to dictate or define you! Define yourself!
This is not grand-standing. It is not wishing or wanting. This is the heart and soul of be-coming. I am speaking about living life as a creative act! At its worst, it's living with paradox on the creative edge of life... At its best, it's exhilarating, inspiring, heady and wonder-ful (as in 'full of wonder').
Human beings are deciding beings. Decide who you intend to be and how you want your life to be. Then, create yourself and your life in the image you envision in your mind and heart!
Ask yourself these three questions:
- Who do I intend to be? - In other words, who do you wish to be. But turn that wish into an intention.
- What qualities do I intend to exhibit in my life and in relationship with others? These might be things such as kindness, compassion, resiliency, optimism, enthusiasm and so on.
- What is my purpose and what will my life look like when I am fulfilling my purpose? (Envision what you will be doing and how you will be doing it.)
Women In Leadership – Adelaide, Australia
Greetings from Adelaide, Australia! Last night we had a lovely dinner with some of our Women In Leadership participants. Two of our participants were also able to share their experiences from the Power of Personal Purpose Retreat held earlier this year in Kona on the big island of Hawaii. It was wonderful to see all of them again and catch up on the progress they have made and how the training has influenced their lives. Next stop, Melbourne.
Magic in the Kona Air!
There is an electric excitement in the air today. The Kona sunshine and beauty could not be more perfect now on the eve of our first event of 2012. Tomorrow is the first day of our five day retreat - The Power of Personal Purpose: A Retreat for the Leader in You. Dynamic women are gathering from as far away as Australia and Canada to discover and create magic in their lives.
Monday, The Power of You, will be our focus as we learn to awaken intuition and discover our inner vision. Several of our participants will be sharing their experiences with you over the next few days, so follow along with our journey. I invite you to leave a comment, send a note or post something on our Facebook wall when you see something that resonates with you.
This year is going to be a time of growth, energy and excitement at TrinidadHunt.com and Élan Enterprises. I can't wait to share it with you!
