Greetings from Adelaide, Australia! Last night we had a lovely dinner with some of our Women In Leadership participants. Two of our participants were also able to share their experiences from the Power of Personal Purpose Retreat held earlier this year in Kona on the big island of Hawaii. It was wonderful to see all of them again and catch up on the progress they have made and how the training has influenced their lives. Next stop, Melbourne.

Fun, learning & excitement in Australia

Lynne and I spent a wonderful weekend with friends who flew in from Perth AU and Brisbane AU to show us the wine country in Adelaide. Gaylia Mitcham and her daughter, Tealeah joined us on Friday night after our first two days of training in Adelaide. They took us to the famous wine country in the Adelaide Hills.

We visited wineries, did specialty wine and fine world class chocolate tasting, and shared lunch in the German town of Hahndorf. It was a most magical weekend with some of our dearest friends from Australia.

The tour is going exceptionally well. I have done 5 programs in the last week and participants are flying high. The Women in Leadership program has made significant contributions to peoples’ lives. Approximately 10 women have begun the process of applying for leadership positions when they had not thought themselves ready or capable before.

Forever Listening

As you know, I have been practicing listening and expanding my listening skills for many years now. In fact my study of listening began some 25 years ago when I started to realize what a ‘sketchy’ listener I was. What I mean by ‘sketchy’ is how much and how often I would drift in and out of the conversation losing words, phrases and even sentences as the other person was communicating with me.

Wondrously, after years of practice and teaching listening skills, Listening is still my master teacher and I am still her humble student. It seems to me that her treasure chest of riches is ever replenished by the flow of daily life. Family and friends, the people that I meet and those that I work with always provide a new source of opportunities to enrich my listening skills. So it is probable that I shall mentor under Listening and continue to learn from her for a lifetime.

No matter what the role you’re in at the moment: a coach, an educator, a manager, a mother or father, a friend, it is your authenticity – your personal presence – that makes the difference.

The Legendary Gang of Five

The Gang of Five has become a legendaryÂ favorite of VIEU.Â Every time I do aÂ workshop at VIEU the gang swoops in early to share hugs, stories, storyboards and exchange life updates with me.

They take the entire back row in the training room, share storyboard notes as the program progresses and engage 110% in everything that isÂ going on.

And how did they come by their name? Susan, who puts all the logistics together for the seminars and prepares the roll call list for the day, told me she had an easy way of identifying them.”I call them the Gang of Five,” she saidÂ jubilantly,”And they are all going to be here today.”

That day was August 3rd. It was the first program I was to do since my August arrival in Australia. And sure enough, 35 minutes before the opening of the day, the illustrious five descended on the room in full regalia, excited, anticipating another great day, capture and rearranging their territory to suit their creature comfort needs in the back row.

So I’m putting out a call to the Infamous Gang of Five…

Meeting Real People

It has been an exciting week. I have been on tour in Australia. As a result I have had the opportunity to connect with many of you who are following my blog.

Thank you!

Although I receive dozens of emails from many of you regarding your thoughts, this has been a rare opportunity to be with you in person.

Our personal conversations have inspired and encouraged me. And it’s really nice to connect the dots by putting your names with faces. From here on in when I receive e-mails from you I’ll be able to see you in my mind and heart.

Lynne and I still have a week and a half to go. So I’m looking forward to meeting many more of you. Please come up to me and introduce yourself so we can have a bit of a chat.
