The Philosophy of Leadership
Forever Listening
As you know, I have been practicing listening and expanding my
listening skills for many years now. In fact my study of listening began some 25 years ago when I started to realize what a ‘sketchy’ listener I was. What I mean by 'sketchy' is how much and how often I would drift in and out of the conversation losing words, phrases and even sentences as the other person was communicating with me.
Wondrously, after years of practice and teaching listening skills, Listening is still my master teacher and I am still her humble student. It seems to me that her treasure chest of riches is ever replenished by the flow of daily life. Family and friends, the people that I meet and those that I work with always provide a new source of opportunities to enrich my listening skills. So it is probable that I shall mentor under Listening and continue to learn from her for a lifetime.
Yesterday I discovered another secret about listening from Frances Chen. Watch the video to discover the new insight I received.
Thank you, Frances, for expanding my study of listening!
Authentic Presence
Who you are makes a difference. You can practice all the skills and skill sets. You can learn all the formulas for success. But who you are, your presence makes the REAL difference. Who you are speaks louder than words!
No matter what the role you're in at the moment: a coach, an educator, a manager, a mother or father, a friend, it is your authenticity - your personal presence - that makes the difference.
DSWA IQ EQ SQ
The DSWA Celebration event on April 29-May 2nd in Dallas was an outrageous and beautiful opportunity to connect, learn and share. Here are my slides for the keynote for all of those who requested them.
The DSWA Celebration in Dallas
The Direct Selling Women's Alliance produced a big hit this year in Dallas. Thank you to all of you who were there for my keynote address and the preconference training! It was great meeting you and experiencing the energy of hundreds of women with the same intent: to grow themselves and their business!
Here are the slides I promised from the conference training on The Art of Facilitation.
A Special Photo
Just flew from Dallas to El Paso & am in a short stop before landing in LA & out to Sidney 4 hours later.
From right to left - Zig Ziglar, Myself, and Zig's daughter, Julie on our way to the DSWA Evening banquet.
Zig's message that night: Surround yourself with people who support you and women have been so supportive in my life.
My takeaway from his message was the importance of having a positive Master Mind Partner in your life - someone who sees, supports and holds you to the highest you!
Next stop LA, then on to Sidney to speak in Adelaide in 2 days. Can't wait to meet some new friends on this next leg of my 5 week tour.
